Yeah, okay. Obama legalized human consumption of horse meat. Again. Because it was legal in the past. Not sure what or who made it illegal, but that's beside the point. And people are getting their panties in a twist over it. Instead of being upset that Obama legalized something he promised to ban in his campaign, people are going nuts over the legalization of horse meat consumption.
What is the big deal? Honestly? It's a source of food, just like any other domestic farm animal that we eat constantly. It's no different than cows, goats, lambs/sheep, chickens, ducks, etc.
Before you go into the issue of morality or ethics, or even that it's considered a pet, consider that in Asia, dogs are a common food; in the United States, pigs are considered an exotic pet; for Pete's sake, people eat rabbit meat and this country doesn't give two shits. I could never eat a rabbit because it's so damn cute and FLAAAAFFY!
But to say that it's "wrong" to consume a horse just because it's different from what you're used to, because it's not what you consider "normal", is just hypocritical as fuck. If you're going to say that eating a horse is wrong, then don't you dare say that eating other animals is right. An animal is an animal, no matter what species. If you eat meat, don't bother saying that it's inhumane or wrong to eat a horse. If you don't eat meat because of animal rights, then you're good. I have no problems with vegetarians or vegans being against it, because that is their lifestyle. But if you're going to put up a fuss about horse meat, take a look in your fridge and toss out those sausages, that bacon, the chicken breasts, the ground turkey or beef. Meat is meat.
Just because something is not part of your "norm" does not make it abhorrent or wrong as a whole. I think pigs as pets are adorable as shit, but am I going to cut bacon out of my diet? HECK NO TECHNO!
Mmmmmmmmmm bacon. <3

Flipping Snitch...
What is this, Bitch Weekend?
I've been working at the candy store the last three days, getting trained and such for my promotion. On Black Friday, a woman came in with her son and asked about our pillow prices. As far as I knew, our big cereal pillows were $32.99 +tax, like all the other big pillows and I said that they must have been priced wrong when she said that the tag said $26.99. Her son continued to grab a Triple Power Push Pop. I rang it up and it came up as $2.49, but the tag said $1.49. He bitched that there was a dollar in tax, and I said there was no tax, and he continued to bitch that the tag said $1.49. I apologized and said it was mispriced. His mom then comes over and starts bitching at me, asking if EVERYTHING in the store was mispriced. So I overrode the price as $1.49 so they would go away.
Then today, a woman and some guy come in. Guy's quiet, the woman just has this awful attitude from the get go. She snapped at me about where the bags were, I told her and pointed, she walked right by them and snapped again, so I walked over, grabbed one and handed it to her. She snatched it up, and stomped off. A couple minutes later, she comes up demanding that I give her a price for it and slams it on the scale. I grabbed the calculator and manually got the price so I wouldn't have to do a clear line, since our DM wants us to do as little of them as possible. It came to like $4.50, and when I said that, she yelled at me that she had gotten this much candy before and it didn't come to $3 then and how come I used the calculator instead of the scale. I explained that I manually calculated it and that it would have been the same on the computer. She stomped away and got more candy. She came back a minute later and slammed it on the scale again, says she only has five dollars and throws the money down. It came to $5.41, so I brought out the spill bucket for her to take a couple pieces out. I started to tell her that if she took out one of the chocolate caramel pecan patties out, it would probably be under $5. She then snaps that she doesn't want to take the chocolate out. I replied that I was just making a suggestion. After she took out 3 pieces, she threw it on the scale for the umpteenth time and it came to $4.46. I was getting her change when she snarled to keep it. Yes, I will keep your 54 cents, ma'am. It puts me THAT much closer to my $10,000 savings goal and then I will be over 1000 miles away from you.
I later tweeted, "Just because you're having a bad day does NOT mean you get to be a fucking BITCH and take it out on me. #mallemployeeproblems". At the time, my buddy Josh and I were having a conversation via Twitter about how I thought his statement of "darn it all to heck" just didn't seem like very angry vernacular. He then tweeted a few moments later, "flipping snitch."
LOLOLOL I can't be mad at a flipping snitch. (:

Land Of The Free Ain't So Free, But It's Okay Because Of You.
So, in case you weren't already aware, I'm Canadian, born and raised in British Columbia and immigrated to California in 2001. I have a green card, I'm legal to work, blah blah blah.
It's almost 11 years later, and I'm finding myself in a little bit of a pickle. You see, green cards have a shelf life of ten years, and I'm a few months away from my expiration date. So I've been looking into the renewal process, since I'm still going to be working here after my current card expires. Holy hell. $450 dollars to get a new green card. And you want to know the kicker? I'm moving back to Canada next August, and I'll probably receive the new green card in the mail JUST before I leave. I want to get my application sent in by the New Year, and in order to do that, I have to pinch pennies like no other. Meaning I will have literally no money for anything, including gas, in the month of December. Awesome, right? Paying car insurance only to not even have gas. But Jon is doing me an incredibly huge favour by covering my gas costs until January, when I'll start paying him back. Thank god my car is fairly fuel efficient, too.
I feel incredibly lucky to have Jon in my life, he's the reason I'm getting out of here so soon. We're both Canadian, and he's been wanting to move to Canada (he has dual citizenship) for about five years. Had we never gotten together last spring (and I'm not happy to say that it had been a possibility of not happening because of me), I probably would have no plans set in stone for moving next year. Jon is the most patient, caring, loving, understanding boyfriend on the planet, despite all of my (many) flaws. As my mom would say, he's my bass player. I love that man more than anything in the world. <3

It's The Little Things...
I'm incredibly patient, yet easily irritated. I'm fully aware of it, and I'll admit it. It sounds impossible but let me explain.
I mentioned before that I work in a daycare with K-1. Children require an incredible level of patience, and the reason I can do that is because I know that they're little. However, I am very easily irritated by teenagers and adults, mostly by stupidity. They know better, or at least they're supposed to. I'm also very irritated by technology, yet I know I would probably go certifiably insane without it.
Blogspot is annoying me because since I have started this blog, I have tried to "follow" two friends' blogs. It shows up on my dashboard immediately after I do so. However, as soon as I refresh the page, or come back to it later, it says I am not following any blogs. I've given it a few days, figuring it was a glitch of some sort. But it is almost a week later and the problem has still not been resolved. GRAH.

34 DAYS UNTIL CHRISTMAS!
I love Christmas. To me, it's the best holiday on the freaking planet. Not only do you get to shovel AMAZING food into your belly, but you get presents, too! I went all out on Christmas gifts, for the most part. Essentially, I went all out for my brother and Jon, money wise. But regardless, the price doesn't matter, it's the gift that does. I've pretty much got "Best Sister Award" and "Best Girlfriend Award" in the bag for at least a year, and I know everyone is going to like their gifts.
I've got everyone taken care of, and it's not even December. Technically, I still need to buy Rob's present, but that's happening in a few days. But all three of my mom's gifts have arrived, the last one today, plus I have a stocking stuffer for her. Dad, I got his a week(ish) ago. One of Jon's arrived a week or so ago, and I'm waiting on the other. Rob's girlfriend (may as well be his wife, we love her that much) is also being waited on. Bestie Bunny's two gifts arrived a couple weeks ago. My pal Robbie's gift, I bought back in September, it's been sitting in my closet. And then my little sister Shelby has a unicorn pillow pet waiting to be shipped, as well as a Mythbusters set for my little brother Lucas that I nabbed today at the mall. Oh wait, that reminds me that I still need to grab something for Jon's sister Nikky, but I can do that when I get Rob's gift.
I am the shit in terms of this year's Christmas presents. They're all useful or fun or plain adorable. Fuck yeah. (:

Not Thrilled, But Not Hating It
So I coloured my hair this evening, as I said I was going to. The dark brown turned out just like I expected (and unexpectedly, a large part of me wishes I had gone a medium brown instead), and the blonde turned out a light yellow. I was hoping I wouldn't need any toner, but I do. I'm not going to post pictures until I'm completely happy with how my hair looks. At least the brown will fade lighter, and worst case scenario, I'll either make the blonde deep red using some leftover Special Effects or I'll use the last of my dark brown colour on it. Meh.
Thank god it's Friday tomorrow (though technically today since it's almost 1AM). Getting up at 7AM to feed my neighbour's pets, then hit up Sally Beauty for toner (and use it if I have time), then go see Breaking Dawn Part I with some friends, then go to work, and after that, drive to the city to pick up my boyfriend Jon (he'll likely come up often) and our friend Kevin from the music conference they attended. Then Saturday it's a competition for the Petaluma High School marching band in Fairfield. As the Assistant Band Director's girlfriend, I'm kind of required to go support them if I'm not working. Which I'm not, Saturdays are my only days off. Did I mention I work three jobs? Daycare, school cafeteria substitute cashier, and Sweet Factory. Then all next week, I'm off until Black Friday, and then I work Friday through Sunday. On the Saturday, I'm getting trained for my promotion, just in time for holiday hours to start at the mall. Hello money.

Everyone's Going But Me
So, being the lame forgetful person I am, I completely spaced on buying midnight premiere tickets for Breaking Dawn Part I tonight. Before anyone gives me shit for liking Twilight, let me tell you something: I don't care. So while everyone (read only one person) on Facebook is talking about going to the premiere, I'll be stuck at home tonight. On my 7 monthaversary. Without my boyfriend, who is at a music conference in San Francisco until Friday. My life is so fucking fabulous, I can't put it into words. (:
But today I'm getting my hair cut the way I wanted it to be last Friday, and tonight I'm colouring it after I get off work. 12PM needs to get here sooner, and work needs to not happen today. Don't get me wrong, I love my main job. I work as an afternoon daycare teacher at an elementary school, and I love my K-1 kids to bits, but today I just want to pamper myself. Y'know? I'll post pictures of the finished product.

You Friggin' Hosers
So I decided to start a blog, just for funsies. No expectations. I may post about something that happened recently in my life. I may post about a current event. I might post a picture of my manicure if I damn well feel like sharing it. I really don't know yet. One thing I do know for sure, it's going to be one hell of a journey, so you may as well enjoy the ride and incoming bombardment of Canadian-isms. (:
